Doberman Assistance Network
"Providing a bridge from despair to hope"

About Us                                     To be an angel, one need not have wings...

The Doberman Assistance Network was founded in October of 2007 when people from the Doberman community realized the need and came together to assist this intelligent, affectionate, and often misunderstood breed.  DAN  began official business on January 1, 2008.

We are usually informed of a Doberman in need  either through our official email (Contact Us page) or from our D.A.N members who routinely search Animal Control Facilities and shelters. Information on the dog and its situation is gathered and a plan of action is formed. We do our best to help with owner surrenders and we accept abandoned and discarded Dobermans in need until rescue space is available.

How DAN Works

When we find a Doberman in need, we assign a "caseworker" to gather all the information about the Doberman(s) and make arrangements to move the dog to safety as soon as possible. Then a trusted rescue or foster for the dog is located and transportation is arranged if necessary.  A team of "transporters" is sometimes assembled for long moves.

We work with rescues in several states to include: FL, GA, SC, NC, PA, OH, IL, MI, MO, TX, LA, CO and CA.   We are constantly in awe of the amazing work the rescues do and work closely with them to ensure that the precious Dobermans who come to our attention get the help they need.

Our First Case

Luke was D.A.N's first case. He was a one year old blind puppy who had been neglected and chained to a doghouse in Virginia. We needed to get Luke out of that situation quickly. Sue Szykinski of Distinguished Doberman Rescue in Pennsylvania immediately agreed to take Luke in and care for him. Two D.A.N volunteers reacted quickly, picking Luke up and driving him to Pennsylvania where Sue found an amazing home for him!
